All Hallows’ Eve

It is, perhaps, a fact provocative of sour mirth that the Bill of Rights was designed trustfully to prohibit forever two of the favorite crimes of all known governments: the seizure of private property without adequate compensation and the invasion of the citizen’s liberty without justifiable cause…It is a fact provocative of mirth yet more sour that the execution of these prohibitions was put into the hands of courts, which is to say, into the hands of lawyers, which is to say, into the hands of men specifically educated to discover legal excuses for dishonest, dishonorable and anti-social acts.

In this world of sin and sorrow there is always something to be thankful for; as for me, I rejoice that I am not a Republican.

Love is the delusion that one woman differs from another.

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.
H. L. Mencken

Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.

All government, of course, is against liberty.

Scott Pelley reporting on the aftermath of “Frankenstorm”.

pre – El Dia De Los Muertos

CACGA and Latin Ballet of Virginia

pre – “Frankenstorm”

“Frankenstorm” a late-season Atlantic cyclone that may become the worst to hit the U.S. Northeast in 100 years. After preparing my roof for leaks I wanted to get a picture of the turning leaves if possible before the storm. Also saw some Hawk beauties this week but like often, by the time I got to my camera they had risen in altitude more.

Northside SWING

The Ginter Park Community Center was always a magical place for me living four doors down from it in one of Major Ginter’s Carpenters Cottages during the 60’s. The dance hall during this time had bands such as King Edward and the BD’s which we would watch in awe the big kids attend. This is only the second time I’ve seen the top floor. Seeing this many young adults dancing was awesome.

I was on the basketball team here in 69 under Coach Jim Baker.

The band had a tuba player that I have been wanting to photograph but couldn’t really get a good shot of.

Friday Nite TANGO

At VMFA.

I dropped my camera case while taking off my sweater, it would be nice if someone had left it with the Museums lost and found, but hasn’t happened as of yet.

Wayne Henderson is an incredible ambassador of american traditional music and builds the best flat-top guitars on the planet. It was wonderful to finally see him play live.

Okra Portrait at Sunset

The volume of pictures I take sometimes causes me to find the print down the road a bit. This portrait of Wes Freed finally worked out really nice.

None-such

At Dusk I was able to take some portraits during sunset thanks to Wes, Lewis, and Leigh who were attending Farm Party at Tricycle Gardens (GROWING HEALTHY FOOD, HEALTHY COMMUNITIES AND A HEALTHY LOCAL FOOD SYSTEM | RICHMOND, VA).
